Mary Holdsworth
singer/songwriter
Brisbane-based singer/songwriter Mary Holdsworth was raised with a classical and country heart. She has been performing since 2001, and writing country music for most of her life.
While Mary specialises in country music, she also is known for her contemporary, love and folk songs, performed either as a solo act or with the backing of a band. Much of her material is ideally suited to all situations, from the general festival and pub atmosphere to weddings and other more formal situations. Her voice has been described as a combination of harmonious, lyrical and sensuous blends – a voice that is “beautiful and expressive, so melodiously rich with a deep mellow quality that lends so well to Country Music”.

Mary has a vocal quality that pierces a person’s heart as they listen, because it comes from her heart. She has a magic that makes the listeners spellbound. Apart from her live performances, Mary has also ventured into the recording studio, culminating in her first EP ‘Skin Deep’. A request from a work colleague to pen a ‘rodeo song’ was the catalyst for ‘Skin Deep’. The EP is a collection of five original songs showcasing Mary’s fresh talent as a singer and songwriter. The songs range from the enduring romantic love song ‘Whisper to Me Your Love’ to the roguish and lively ‘Cheque Please’. The title track, ‘Skin Deep’, is about finding beauty, while ‘Rodeo Romeo’ is a foot tapping love song set around the rodeo circuit. Since recording her EP, Mary has performed at many private functions, and several benefits, including the Royal Flying Doctors and performed at numerous venues and festivals including: Gympie Muster, Woodford Folk Festival, Wax Lyrical (Brunswick Hotel in Brisbane), Seabrae Hotel at Redcliffe, the Pine. |
